Germany’s Next Topmodel is a German reality television show, based on a concept that was introduced by Tyra Banks with America’s Next Top Model. The competition is hosted by Heidi Klum, who also serves as the lead judge and executive producer of the show, and revolves around IMG Models searching for a new supermodel.

Each yearly search of Germany’s Next Topmodel has 10 to 17 episodes and starts with 12-19 contestants. Each episode, one contestant is eliminated, though a double/triple elimination or no elimination was given by consensus of the judging panel.

The show is broadcasted on Pro Sieben, one of the main German TV Channel.

Miss Sixty Fall/Winter 2009 collection plunges into the ‘80s. The show in the Tent at Bryant Park, New York, was a huge success!

The collection is the pop/punk style answer to the desire for freedom, joy and self expression. Tough, bold, and edgy but still hyper-feminine, denim is the protagonist of the collection. This season offers an array of washes on silhouettes ranging from shirts to jackets to dresses and one-pieces. It provides an alluring contrast to fabrics such as rubberized lace, silk devoré for evening dresses, and cotton printed with trompe l’oeil graphics. For Fall/Winter 2009 Miss Sixty ushers in the birth of a new dimension in denim.

The look of the collection references the strikingly raw, unbridled beauty of the photographs by Richard Avedon in the ’80s. Built-up silhouettes, fitted waistlines, wide and shaped shoulders, minis which are truly mini: a biker soul underlined by the use of leather and studs in gold, bronze, and silver. The color palette is dark and black, cut by the energy of electric blue, violet, fuchsia, and orange.
Pieces with varying volumes are mixed-and-matched to create outfits with refined and elegant structure and silhouette.

A fabric explosion is created by pieces done in a colorful print inspired by the art of Roy Lichtenstein. A flash of cosmopolitan glamour is shown in another bright print, this time created from a collage of covers of glossy international magazines. The print becomes a mirror on which fashion is reflected; it appears on stretch jersey tops, day dresses, and even a colorful, short evening dress with a deep neckline and strong ‘80s-style sleeves.

Miss Sixty’s Fall/Winter 2009 collection is all about a bold mixing of elegant sensuality, balanced excess, and the return of hyper-feminine ‘80s style.

Miss Sixty believes clean water is a must-have, so has partnered with Charity: water to build a well in Ethiopia.

In sub-Saharan Africa, a baby’s chance of dying from diarrhea is almost 520 times greater than here in the US.  Diseases like diarrhea are caused by drinking contaminated water, and kill more than 2.2 million people each year. That’s the equivalent of 20 jumbo jets crashing every day.  Children under 5 are the most susceptible to water-borne disease; their developing bodies often fail to withstand the amount of parasites normally found in contaminated water sources.

A well can serve between 200-500 people for a duration of 20 years.
Wells transform communities. Preventable waterborne diseases are drastically decreased. Long walks to muddy rivers and swamps are no longer necessary.  Time spent collecting water is reduced, offering women a chance to earn an income and children a chance to get an education.  Wells bring people together and offer improved health, a better quality of life, and hope for a better future.
